Sunday brought some of the most perfect weather you could ask for to get out and enjoy the 35th annual Autumn Drive, as well as the annual Witches & Wizards of Woodstock event. Autumn was definitely in full swing with amazing color and still a lot of leaves in the trees.
If you are reading this and didn’t make it out last weekend, then stop everything right now and get out there. We have been truly blessed so far this year as we haven’t had the heavy rains or winds that often strip the trees bare, but it looks like we are quickly descending from peak season.
35th Annual Autumn Drive
Truly one of our favorite events of the year, if for no other reason than it ensures we get out to see the leaves. And this year may have been some of the best timing for that reason alone.
Of course, weather this time of year can be quite unpredictable and challenging, especially for an event that involves a lot of getting in and out of a vehicle and trudging along roadsides, ditches, and fields.

While the weather was amazing and there were quite a lot of people enjoying it, there did seem to be fewer vendors this year. Perhaps it was fuller on Friday and Saturday. Otherwise, it was surprisingly smaller for a milestone year.
But that didn’t stop us from enjoying the opportunity to get out to the countryside of McHenry County and enjoy the sights. We of course also managed to pick up our pumpkins for Halloween and some apple cider donuts!

Witches & Wizards of Woodstock
This was also our 3rd or 4th time at Witches & Wizards of Woodstock. Similarly, perfect weather for strolling around the square or just sitting and people-watching.
There seemed to be a good turnout of vendors, food trucks, and other activities, though perhaps less than last year. It also seemed like the character scavenger hunt was more challenging this year. Last year, I think we found all but two of the characters, and this year, don’t think we even found half.

All that aside, with amazing weather like we had it was a great day on the Square. Looking for more? Here is the article and photos from last year’s Witches & Wizards of Woodstock.
