While fishing may be allowed in general across many of the various waters of McHenry County, our guide focuses on fishing spots that are specifically listed by the authority that manages it. Many of these are maintained by the local city or village park services or by other county or state authority.
The vast majority are open to public fishing, but some may also be private or require some form of membership. Likewise, some may operate on a strictly catch-and-release basis, so be sure to confirm the locations that match up with the type of fishing you are interested in.
