Welcome to the Village of Trout Valley, Illinois.

Trout Valley developed out of the former estate of John D. Hertz, who founded the Yellow Cab Company and later acquired Rent-a-Car Inc., which would become the foundation to the car rental enterprise, The Hertz Corporation.

While not the smallest land wise in McHenry County, Spring Grove is the second smallest, coming in at .43 square miles.

Aside from the re-incorporation of the Fox River Valley Gardens as Port Barrington in 2002, Trout Valley was the last to incorporate within McHenry County, incorporating as the Village of Trout Valley in 1996. Residential development only began in 1953.

This primarily residential area features the FoxRiver along its southern border, and surrounded by Cary on the other sides.
