Explore & Experience Port Barrington

Welcome to the Village of Port Barrington, Illinois, which resides in both McHenry and Lake Counties.

Port Barrington has a rather unusual and unique history. In fact, it only became Port Barrington in 2002.

Originally developed as a summer recreational area, much of the Village's southern border runs along the Fox River.

The village was originally incorporated in 1969 as Fox River Valley Gardens, and at the time had the longest name of any incorporated place in Illinois.

In 2002, Fox River Valley Gardens reincorporated as Port Barrington.
