Welcome to the Village of Fox Lake, Illinois, which resides in both McHenry and Lake Counties, though primarily in Lake County.

The Village of Fox Lake was incorporated in 1907, though much of its early years served primarily as a summer destination when its population swelled exponentially.

While not on the McHenry side, Fox Lake is home to the former Mineola Hotel and Restaurant, believed to have served as a hideout for Al Capone.

Today the population has grown and boasts a more year-round residency, though one thing hasn’t changed…the Fox Lake and other Chain O’Lakes still serve as a summer draw.
