The Village of Lakemoor, Illinois, resides in both McHenry and Lake Counties.
Lakemoor was initially developed as a vacation area around Lily Lake.
While it was originally incorporated in 1938, they later dissolved that incorporation in 1943 over taxation issues.
However, struggling with needed municipal improvements, the Village re-incorporated in 1952.
