Winter weather isn’t known for cooperating, especially for events that have an “outside” element. On a day that started out gray, gloomy, and rainy, it was a welcome surprise when the sun came out and the sky was filled with puffy, big, white clouds. This was a pleasant treat as we were heading to Richmond for the Cocoa Walk and Richmond Christmas of Yesteryear events.
Richmond’s Cocoa Walk was taking place Saturday and Sunday, featuring various stops to sample cocoa, apple cider, or enjoy some shopper discounts. This was definitely a feel-good event, not just because of the warm drinks, but because it was a fundraiser event to benefit CASA McHenry County, who helps children in need.
Saturday was also Richmond Christmas of Yesteryear, hosted by The District, featuring the St. Joseph’s Annual Cookie Walk, face painting, kids craft station, a balloon animal artist, a magic show, and an opportunity to meet with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The hosts and stops for the Cocoa Walk included Anderson’s Candy Shop, Harper G! Mercantile, Finery & Finishes, Wicked Woods & Goods, Richmond Cafe, Magpie Market, Aeon Gallery, Snow White Photography, KT’s Cheesecakes & More, Chain O’Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, Richmond Township Fire Protection District, Community Church of Richmond, The District, and Oldies & Goodies The Store.
