McHenry holds a number of festive events during the Downtown McHenry Holiday Walk to usher in the festive season. Perhaps the greatest of these is the annual tree lighting in Veteran’s Memorial Park. More than just a tree lighting though, it featured horse-drawn sleigh rides around the perimeter of the park, kid’s crafts and Santa in the gazebo, a bouncy house, dancers, and choirs singing Christmas carols.
Thanks to the incredible weather, it was standing room only around the gazebo as many turned out for the festivities.
While there were long lines to see Santa and enjoy the sleigh ride, everyone seemed to be patient and enjoying the time out.
If you didn’t make it out for the tree lighting, you’re in luck Of course, we have some photos for your enjoyment below, but Veteran’s Park will be lit up nightly throughout the holiday season.
Address: 3400 Pearl Street, McHenry, IL 60050
You can also still enjoy the Festival of Trees and maybe even get a few tree decorating ideas while also helping Veterans Path to Hope.
