Once a year, a short journey down to Kane County yields automotive bliss at the annual Geneva Concours d’Elegance. Of course, we love the regular car shows that McHenry County has to offer, and our annual Car Show Guide is a blast to update every year, but admittedly, the Geneva show is on a whole different level.
The Geneva Concours d’Elegance is a classic car show held annually in Geneva, Illinois. The event, which is open to the public, showcases a variety of antique, classic, and modern automobiles, all of which are judged on their beauty, rarity, and historical significance.
If “concours d’elegance” sounds fancy…well, it is. This “competition of elegance” often involves rare and prestigious vehicles. Judging for these vehicles is extremely meticulous…the kind where they may check the interior of a vent for dust!

The cars are judged on a variety of factors, including their originality, condition, and historical significance. The winning cars are awarded trophies, and the event is also a great opportunity for car enthusiasts to meet and learn about the history of the automobile.
Beyond the sheer volume of cars (and other vehicles) shown, the Geneva Concours d’Elegance features a wide variety of cars, from antique classics to modern supercars, and just about everything in between.
The concours is held on Third Street in downtown Geneva, as well as a number of streets and parking lots branching off. Fortunately, all of which is closed to traffic for the event. The cars are displayed so spectators can walk among them, admire their beauty, and often talk with their owners.
The Geneva Concours d’Elegance is also a fundraiser for the LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, a local cancer support organization. The proceeds from the event help to provide financial assistance, education, and support services to cancer patients and their families.
