Join me at Three Bees Honey Shop as we do a autopsy of a dead out hive.
We will review our notes from the 2023 season and see what we observe inside the hive and what we can learn from that.
We will take apart and inspect the hive and learn how to clean up and maintain a hive and prepare it for the next year.
Unfortunately losing hives is a regular part of keeping bees. The best we can do is to learn from it. There are many clues that can help is identify what went wrong. Learn what to look for when you lose a colony.
Many new beekeepers lose bees and aren’t sure how to properly set a hive up afterwards in the second year; what to scrape and what to keep. We will review what’s next after a dead out as well.

ThreeBees
Three Bees is a full service beekeeping operation that produces local honey and hive based products using all organic methods. Three Bees offers honey, pure beeswax candles and health conscious body care. Konni Vukelic, Beekeeper and founder of Three Bees and has been keeping bees for over 11 years, teaching and mentoring for over 8. We also aim to raise awareness about saving bees through conservation, observation, and mentorship. Educating about bees, honey and good health is a foundational piece of Three Bees. Konni believes bees are our best teachers and views the hive as a medicine chest and educates from this perspective. Konni’s mission is to help others learn about bees, beekeeping, and honey; and discover their health from the hive. Three Bees educates new and emerging beekeepers to learn to read and understand colony behavior, health and management, so they can spend less time and money becoming better beekeepers and not bee havers.
