Long story short, Steve Schubert came to our home, we talked about the job, we hired him and gave him a $500.00 deposit…that was on Aug 18, 2021. The job was supposed to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 14th…. had I not called him, on Friday Sept. 10th, to confirm the start date for the following week…We would have missed out on all of his B.S. regarding his health, his divorce and a plethora of other stories. Fast forward to Nov 18th, 2021, our court date, at McHenry County Court, where we took him to small claims. SAVE yourselves the headache and time listening to his B.S. We have yet to have our home painted. He’s never “been in touch” since. He does have several addresses, most likely because folks are looking for him, to recover the deposit money they gave him. 1101 w. South St. Woodstock, IL. 2444 Evergreen Cir. McHenry, IL. Also, in May of 2022, he listed Satellite Beach, FL. as the new state to snare up victims, to pad his pockets.

Let me explain something. When I got your deposit I put it in the bank to cover your materials and I told you in the kitchen that some times I need to move things around and you both said that was ok. I spent money knowing I had your job and know I’m trying to make up for it. Normally deposit are non refundable because people would back out and I’d go under. The reason I get a deposit is so that doesn’t happen. I apologize about having to move you 2 weeks and I’m working on getting your deposit back. This really set me back financially. I have some work now and I’ll get it back as soon as I can. I hope you understand this was something I had no control over. I’ll be in touch as soon as I have it.
