The sun may have been hiding for much of Labor Day weekend, but that didn’t seem to stop people from heading to Lake in the Hill’s annual Summer Sunset Festival. This was our first time though, so I don’t have prior experiences to compare. I’m sure the empty, blase skies probably had some impact on numbers, but overall, there still seemed to be a lot who refused to be deterred from hitting the carnival, perusing the craft & business expo, and taking in some sweet sounds of some bands. And with free parking and admission, who could blame them!
This annual 3-day event is a great way to wind down the summer. With plenty of parking and free admission (not including the carnival rides and games), it’s fun and cheap entertainment.
While we only went for the carnival, they had a full weekend of activities to participate in, including a classic car show, wine tasting, parade, fun for dogs as well as kids, a bags tournament, fireworks, a 5K fun, and the craft fair/business expo.
Address: 5200 Miller Rd, Lake in the Hills, IL 60156
If you missed it, you’ll have to wait till next year, but here or a few photos to hold you over till then.
