Join me as I take a quick walkthrough of the newly reopened Crystal Lake Public Library! While I believe some work still continues as part of the library’s repairs project, they have just officially reopened to the public. Having a stack of books and movies to return and one hold waiting for me seemed like as good an opportunity to take a peek around.
Some repairs and improvements were more behind the scenes, like improved air circulation and filtration, and others, especially after being out of the library for so long due to COVID, may go somewhat unnoticed, such as improved interior and exterior lighting.
But other things will definitely stand out, like the new drive-up servicing, new self-service stations, more spaces in main areas, although some of the areas in the stacks don’t seem to have widened or changed. But it certainly appears that they’ve responded, no doubt in part due to COVID, to create more room in the heavily trafficked areas. I encourage you to stop by and check things out for yourself. The photos here will give you a brief snapshot, though I’m sure you’ll notice additional changes as well.
