Barrington Art Festival…a Look-Back, and Forward to Art On the Fox

It’s been busy. Suddenly, the end of May feels like so long ago. And between Memorial Day parades and then the 4th…well, anyway, here we are…or were. But that’s okay, because even more importantly, the company that puts on the Barrington Art Festival, Amdur Productions, also puts on the Algonquin art festival, Art on the Fox in Algonquin. So enjoy a quick look and prepare!

The Barrington Art Festival, which was held this year on May 28th & 29th, was an enjoyable adventure over the county line. We went on Sunday and made a nice little excursion.

Of course, heading to Barrington is a perfect excuse for grabbing drinks and pub grub from McGonigal’s Pub.

They close off some of the streets in downtown Barrington for the art festival, and other than the spacing between the vendors being a little tight on the sides, there’s plenty of room to walk around.

Address: Downtown Barrington, Cook & Station Streets, Barrington, IL 60010

I have to commend Amdur Productions for a great experience. The Barrington Art Festival had a lot of artists and a huge variety, from traditional paintings and photography to furniture, jewelry, pens, purses, teddy bears, and more. It was very broad and representative, without being hugely skewed toward any one area. They also seemed to pull vendors in from the local area as well as regional and even some from other parts of the country.

As for Art On the Fox, it has been a few years since we went to that one, which if memory serves correctly, has been smaller than the Barrington one, but no less fun. Besides, it’s usually held right there along the Fox River, so hard to beat that.

A place where residents can discover new places to explore, fun events and ways to spend time, and then share those experiences with others. A place where businesses can connect with existing and potential customers, and not simply market their businesses, but share their own unique stories.
